Ramallah Music Hub

Purpose (Mandate)

The Ramallah Music Hub (Later to be developed into Ramallah Music Business & Export Hub – MB&E Hub) is envisioned as the core engine for developing the music business ecosystem in Ramallah. Its role is to support musicians, music professionals, and cultural institutions through training, venues/facilities, networking, export support, policy development and international visibility, becoming the heart of Ramallah’s role as a UNESCO Creativity City of Music.

  • Develop a professional music business and export hub/infrastructure in the city.
  • Serve as a central contact point and reference for music-related information, support and inquiries within the music industry.
  • Provide training and guidance on how to utilise data and analytics in the music industry to all musicians.
  • Act as a neutral platform connecting public, private, and civil music actors, ensuring it does not compete with any existing cultural institutions.
  • Support artists’ career development and exposure, locally and internationally.
  • Enhance skills of creatives, musicians and music professionals in music business, management, rights, digital tools, marketing & promotion.
  • Creating and strengthening pathways for international mobility, collaboration, and export for artists
  • Provide shared facilities and venues such as studios, rehearsal rooms and co-working spaces.
  • Strengthen networks, partnerships, and cross-sector collaboration, locally and internationally.
  • Develop policy tools, recommendations, and governance mechanisms for the music sector.
  • Improve visibility and promotion of Ramallah’s music industry.

Structural Framework - Governance

  1. Established under the Ramallah Music Office (Ramallah Municipality).
  2. Initially governed by a Steering / Advisory Committee representing:
  3. Municipality / public sector.
  4. Music institutions.
  5. Private sector professionals.
  6. UNESCO advisory committee.
    • Committee requirements:
      • 50% female and 50% male
      • 10% diversity led, if possible
      • Genre neutral representation.
      • 7 members.
      • Volunteer-based, with one-year terms.

 

 

Operational Team

The HUB will include:

  • Coordinator (Music Business and Export HUB Coordinator): Project implementation, programming, budgeting, daily operations, and communication coordination.
  • Project Managers and Artist Counselors: Managing different projects and services, organization of events, artist counselling, music sector mapping
  • External Music Advisor: Managing industry relations, international relations, capacity building, policy measures and charter of best practices implementation.
